A Bible study app for phone, tablet and computer
Scripture Study
The whole Bible, its places, people and feasts, in one offline study app.
Mount Sinai · photo credits
- 7Bible translations
- 1,000+Bible places
- 100+people, with biographies
- 120+feasts and traditions
- 14,200+Hebrew and Greek words
- 200+world-history events
Counts come straight from the app's own data files, rounded down.
Open the Bible. Then step into its world.
Read in any of 7 public-domain translations, follow the story in time order, look up a place on the map, meet the people, explore the feasts and traditions through the year, and tap a word to see the Hebrew or Greek behind it. Everything sits in one app, and once it's saved it keeps working with no internet.
Built on sources
Every entry shows its homework.
Each published encyclopedia entry is checked against at least three outside sources, and each one lists them so you can check too. They include 19th-century Bible dictionaries, Josephus, and older reference works. Bible references sit beside the text, and paintings are labelled as later art, not likenesses.

Read & Study
The whole story, in the order it happened.
7 translations, a 365-day chronological reading plan, a timeline of 140+ Bible events, and topic search you can type or speak.
7 translations, side by side
Compare passages side by side, or let the app read aloud. All 7 translations are in the public domain.

Read the Bible in chronological order
A 365-day plan takes you through the books in the order the events happened, with your progress kept day by day. Each day links to its place on the timeline.
Timeline: 140+ events across 12 eras
Turn on the world-history layer to see 200+ events from 13 regions, such as Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, Rome and China, beside the Bible story. Dates are the ones historians use and are marked approximate where they are.

Search by topic, typed or spoken
Ask in plain words, like find every passage on the Holy Spirit
or show me verses about forgiveness
. Results are ranked with the matching words highlighted, and can be filtered by Testament and book. 50+ topics know their synonyms, so Holy Spirit also finds Holy Ghost and Comforter.
Voice search uses your browser's speech recognition. On iPhone that means Safari and a one-time microphone permission. Some devices send the audio to Apple's or Google's speech service, so voice search may need internet even when the rest of the app is offline. Typing always works offline.

Read it your way
Turn verse numbers and chapter headings on or off, switch to continuous paragraphs instead of verse by verse, and show or hide encyclopedia links in the text. The app remembers your choices.

Encyclopedia
Then, and now.
850+ entries on places, people, feasts and traditions. Each one is checked against 3+ outside sources and lists them.
An example from the app: Capernaum

In depth: the groups of Jesus' day
Long entries cover the Pharisees, Sadducees, Sanhedrin, Essenes, scribes and more, with a side-by-side comparison:

How sources are handled
- An entry is published only when at least three outside sources back it. Entries that fall short are held back.
- Each entry lists its sources by name with a link.
- Facts from history and archaeology are reported as the sources give them, and debated dates are marked as debated.
- Bible references are given in the text so you can read the passage yourself.
Places & Maps
Every place, on the map.
1,000+ places named in the Bible, from rivers and mountains to towns and regions, with 530+ photos of the sites today and a map that works offline.
A map you can search
Filter places by region and type, tap a point to open its entry, and zoom from the whole region to a single valley. Each place says how sure the identification is, so you can tell a certain site from a proposed one.
Every entry pairs then, what 19th-century Bible dictionaries said about it, with now, where it is identified today.

People
Meet the people of the Bible.
100+ biographies with family, key events, places, a timeline and Bible references, and a family tree from Adam to Jesus.
Paintings are public-domain works shown as later art, not likenesses.
Grouped by the story

Feasts & Traditions
The Bible's year, season by season.
120+ entries on the Sabbath, the feasts, the sanctuary and its offerings, daily customs and the groups of the time, with a calendar of the year.
The calendar in the app

What the entries cover
The Sabbath from creation through the Gospels and the early church, the spring and autumn feasts, the tabernacle and temple furniture, the priesthood, offerings, clean and unclean foods, vows, marriage, burial and mourning, and the writings and customs of later Judaism, each with Bible references and its sources listed.
Hebrew & Greek
Tap a word. See the original.
8,600+ Hebrew and 5,600+ Greek dictionary entries linked to the King James text, with every verse where each word appears.
Try it: these are real entries from the app
Tap a highlighted word.
What each word shows
- The original word, its transliteration and pronunciation
- Strong's number and definition (Strong's dictionaries, 1890)
- For Hebrew, the outline of meanings from Brown-Driver-Briggs (1906)
- How the King James translators rendered it
- Every KJV verse that uses it, one tap away
Search the dictionary by English word, transliteration or Strong's number. Word study works with the King James text.

Journey Through Time
Fly through the ages.
Short cinematic chapters, era by era: where the story happens in the Bible, and what was happening in the rest of the world at the same time.
Clips are AI-generated artist's impressions, not photographs or archaeological reconstructions.

Memorize & Game
Hide the word in your heart.
Add any passage and learn it step by step, then play a word game built on verses.
Memorize in steps
Learning moves from reading and listening, to fading words, to first letters, to full recall. Reviews are then spaced out over days and weeks, so a verse comes back just before you'd forget it.
- Listen & read
- Fading words
- First letters
- Type
- Recall
- Speak it
- Audio only
- Reference quiz
Add, edit and delete passages in any translation.

A word game built on verses
Swipe through a grid of letters to find the words of a verse in order. Diagonals count, and finding words quickly in a row builds a streak bonus.

FAQ
Questions, answered.
Does it need the internet?
Only to install it and to save it for offline use. After that, the Bible, search, encyclopedia, maps, photos and word study work with no connection. Voice search may need internet on some devices, because the device's speech service does the listening.
What devices does it run on?
It runs on iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets, and computers, in a modern browser. You install it from the browser to your home screen. It isn't in the App Store or Google Play.
Which Bible translations are included?
Is it a subscription?
No. The app is a one-time purchase. Monthly support is optional, and you can stop it at any time by emailing admin@thewholelife.com.
Is there a free trial?
Not at the moment.
How many devices can I use?
Your purchase is for you. Sign in on your own devices with your email; each new device is confirmed with a code sent to that email. Please don't share your login. A family plan covers each person in your household.
How do the family plan and gifts work?
A family plan is for 3 to 12 people, and each person signs in with their own email. A gift sends each person you name their own download link by email, and you can buy for 1 to 25 people at once.
Where does the encyclopedia information come from?
Each entry is checked against at least three outside sources and lists them. They include public-domain Bible dictionaries (Easton, Smith, Schaff), Josephus, older encyclopedias, and modern references used to check facts. See Credits & Sources.
Are the paintings real portraits?
No. They are public-domain paintings from later centuries, labelled in the app as later art, not likenesses. Place photos are real photographs of the sites today.
What if it isn't for me?
See the Refund Policy, or email us.

Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This policy explains what The Whole Life LLC ("we") collects when you buy and use Scripture Study, and why.
When you buy
Payments are handled by Stripe. Stripe collects your card details and billing information, and we never see or store your full card number. Stripe shares with us your name, email address, what you bought, and the amount paid. For gifts and family plans, we also receive the email addresses you give us for the people you're buying for, and any gift message.
We use these to deliver the app, send receipts, login codes and download links from admin@thewholelife.com, provide support, process refunds, and keep the records the law requires. We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Signing in
The app signs you in with your email address. We keep a record of your account and the devices you've confirmed, so we can send you login codes and limit sharing.
Inside the app
Your memory passages, game progress, reading progress and settings are saved on your device in your browser's storage. The Bible text, encyclopedia, maps and photos are downloaded to your device so they work offline.
Microphone
The microphone is used only when you tap it, for voice search or the Speak step in Memorize. Speech recognition is done by your browser or device, and some devices send the audio to Apple's or Google's speech service under their own privacy policies. We don't receive or store recordings.
This website
This website doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies. Our web host may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security.
Children
Purchases must be made by an adult. If a family plan includes children, the adult who buys it provides and manages their email addresses.
Your choices
You can ask us to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you by emailing admin@thewholelife.com. We keep purchase records as long as tax and accounting rules require.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top.
Terms of Use
Last updated:
These terms are between you and The Whole Life LLC. By buying or using Scripture Study you agree to them.
Your licence
When you buy the app, you get a personal, non-transferable licence to use it on your own devices. A family plan gives each named person their own licence. A gift gives the recipient their own licence.
Please don't
- share your login, download link or copy of the app with people who haven't bought it;
- resell, rent or redistribute the app or its compiled content;
- try to get around the sign-in or device checks.
We may suspend a login that's clearly being shared, after first trying to contact you.
Content and licences
The Bible texts are in the public domain. The app also includes material from others under their own licences, such as Creative Commons photos, which are listed on the Credits page. Those licences still apply to those materials. Everything else in the app, including its design, code and the encyclopedia as compiled, belongs to The Whole Life LLC.
Accuracy
We work hard to check every entry against its sources, but historical dates, place identifications and scholarly views can be uncertain or debated, and mistakes are possible. The app is a study aid. Tell us if you find an error and we'll look into it.
Updates and availability
We may update the app to fix problems or add content. Once saved for offline use, the app keeps working on your device. Signing in on a new device needs our login service to be running.
Warranty and liability
The app is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for the app.
